Before you spend your valuable time tagging an item, please be sure it meets all the Pocket Change tagging guidelines.

MSM Bar-Coding system

We use the My Sale Manager (MSM) bar-coding system at our sale.  No index cards or tags from another system will be accepted.

Start:  sign in and enter your inventory and it will automatically generate an inventory list for you;

*It's important that you print tags on cardstock, paper tags don't scan easily at checkout. You are able to print 6 tags on one sheet of cardstock; you are able to print your inventory sheet.

*Print your tags & safety pin them to your garments in the upper right hand corner as it is facing you (placed over the heart). Please have the items hanging so the hanger is facing left (so it makes a question mark).

*Discounted items: each tag will have the words "discount" and "yes" or "no".  We encourage you to discount your items on the last day.  This is a big sale day and shoppers look for items that are going to be half price.

During the sale: you are able to follow active inventory online at the end of each day. Each tag is unique to the item and consignor, so you are following your tags.

End of sale: total amount earned; what items sold and items to be picked up or donated.

Ongoing: you do not have to re-enter your tag information from sale to sale. Your items will stay on your inactive online inventory until they sell or you delete them.

Item Description - Use the middle of the card to give a short description of your item. This is a good way to point out if your item is a brand name. If you have the time, this is also a good place to add any positive selling points, such as "Washes Well!" or "Only Worn Once."  Be careful to avoid negatives such as "Never Worn."  Use "NEW" or "Like New!" instead.  On large ticket items such as equipment, you may want to put the retail price off to the side so buyers will know what a good deal they are getting.

ND - NO DISCOUNT - if ND is listed on the bottom right hand corner of your tag then the item will only be sold at Full Price on 50% OFF Day.

D - DONATE - if you would like the item automatically donated if it does NOT sell, please  write DONATE in the bottom right corner of your tag

Price - Price must be listed in $0.50 increments only.  Minimum price is $2.00.  If an item is less than $2.00 group it with something else.

Don’t make any changes or corrections once tags are completed. This is for your own protection. Make a new tag if a change is necessary!

How to Attach Tags to Clothing & Hanging Items

ALL Clothing must be on hangers. Dry cleaners will give you hangers if you ask. The hanger hook should pointing to the left, and the tag should be SAFETY pinned on the right shoulder when facing the item.  Sets tend to sell better (under size 10) than separate items, so match things up.  Pin sets securely together by hanging the shirt first, then turn the hanger over and pin the pants by the waist to the backside of the hanger, using two pins, with the pin catching the hanger to support the pants. Both pieces can be viewed without unpinning them, and this prevents lost items.

On larger clothing items, such as maternity or dresses, please secure them with safety pins if they have a tendency to fall off the hanger.  Your items won't sell if they're on the floor!

Pants or shorts sold alone should be pinned at the waist, NOT folded over the hanger.  A great way to keep pants from sliding all over the hanger is to use paper-covered dry cleaner's hangers.  They don't slide and stay neat-looking, which in turn makes them sell better.  Again. dry cleaners will usually give you hangers.

How to Attach Tags to Non-Hanging Items

Shoes - shoes must be attached in some fashion.  Best suggestion is to tie the shoes together with curly ribbon and punch a hole in your tag and tie it to the item.  Shoes will NOT be accepted in boxes or zip-lock bags.  SHOES MUST BE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION -very little wear

Large Items - make sure card is securely attached to your item.  Packing tape or pinning a card through ribbon and attaching are the best options.

Items with small parts - small parts should be contained in a zip-lock bag and attached securely to any large item.  This will insure no missing parts.

Toys - make sure card is securely attached to your item.  Packing tape or pinning a card through ribbon and attaching are the best options.  Toys that require batteries should be in working condition.  No one will purchase an item if they cannot see that it works.  Items without batteries will NOT be accepted.

Books and Videos - please do not use packing tape on books and videos, since it usually tears the cover.  Make sure that videos work, and secure tag with two pieces of scotch tape, or put in zip lock bags.  If packaging multiples together in bags or tying together, please write all titles on tag.

Assembly Required - Items that require assembly must be assembled onsite.  Please make sure we know how to disassemble so we may let any potential buyer know.  Make sure to bring any tools you may require for assembly.

Multiple or Separate Pieces- put a tag on EACH piece. Fill out the first tag as normal, but include "1 of X", where X is the number of pieces, under the item description. On all of the other tags, write your consignor number, the description, and "2 of X", "3 of X" etc. DO NOT write the PRICE on any tag except the main items' tag when you are selling multiple pieces for one price.
